Bio - Iain Robson

Iain Robson started his physical fitness journey at 13 years of age when his father enrolled him in a youth soccer and track organization in Southern California. Iain excelled in soccer so well that he was hand selected for a classic traveling team where he continued playing until he reached 18. He also competed in track and cross country at Newbury Park high school, California where he competed in the one mile run with his best time being 4 minutes 58 seconds. During his young adult life he assisted his father in coaching youth soccer teams until he decided to join the United States Air Force where he served as a Security Forces member (Military Police) for 20 years 3 days. He attended Basic Training and the Military Police Academy at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas and was eventually shipped to Clark Air Base Republic of the Philippines. His first martial arts instructor, Romey Corbo, gave Iain a strong foundation with the Kung Fu art of Tien Shan Pai, he studied with Sifu Romey until his passing just 9 months later. Iain was then introduced to Maximo Abarques ( JoJo ) a few weeks later who furthered his studies with the Filipino hand and foot fighting techniques of Kuntaw where Iain attained the rank of 1st degree Black Belt. During his time in the Philippines Iain participated in several tournaments some with safety gear and some bare hand and feet. Iain was then transferred to Kunsan Air Base Republic of Korea where he had a 3 month taste of Hopkido until he met his Kickboxing instructor Mr. Pak. He endured a long trek into the depths of Kunsan City 5 days a week to train as the only American in the class. After nine grueling months of training he was transferred to Castle Air Force Base, California and began a small martial arts instructional class of his own, training fellow military police personnel. Two years later Iain was able to get transferred back to Kunsan Air Base, Korea where continued his training for another year with Mr. Pak. Iain was then transferred and spent the last 13 years of his military career at Malmstrom Air Force Base, Montana where he introduced himself to the world of weight training. After his retiring from the military he moved his family to Simpsonville, South Carolina where he got involved with coaching youth soccer for 4 years with CESA. Eventually Iain met a professional boxer/kickboxer named Shannon Hudson, owner of Hurricane Martials Arts and Founder of 9Round Boxing/Kickboxing circuit training. Iain had the pleasure of training with Shannon and eventually met up and trained with Shannon's boxing trainer Mr. Biggs. After several months of training Shannon and his wife Heather agreed to reward Iain with the first franchisee opportunity. Iain is now the proud owner of 9Round Simpsonville.

Iain has been married to his wonderful wife Lily for 28 years, they have 3 grown children, Robert 28 who resides in Seattle Washington, their daughter Carmella 26, who lives in Charleston, SC and their youngest son Chris 20, who lives in Greenville.
