Fitness and Nutrition

The human body is a complex machine capable of some truly amazing things. Every movement you make is made possible by the processes happening right now in your body. Your lungs are bringing in oxygen, your heart is pumping blood through your veins, and neurons are firing in your brain. These things happen all the time, and we barely notice them, so it's easy to take our bodies for granted. If we want them to keep working properly, though, it's important to take care of them. We take care of our bodies by keeping them active and giving them the right kinds of fuel. In order to keep our bodies active, we exercise. We give our bodies the right kinds of fuel by eating healthy foods like fruits and vegetables. The Internet is full of fun games and activities that can teach us more about fitness and nutrition.

Nutrition

Proper nutrition is important for people of all ages, but it's especially important for growing kids. When we eat healthy, nutritious foods, we are giving our bodies the energy they need to perform and grow. Healthy foods provide our bodies with the nutrients they need, like carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vitamins, and minerals. When we eat balanced diets that include plenty of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains, it's OK if we occasionally have an unhealthy snack. If we eat too many unhealthy foods that are high in sugar and fat, however, we could end up harming our bodies. Unhealthy diets can lead to a number of serious health problems, like obesity, heart disease, and diabetes. Proper nutrition, on the other hand, will keep our bodies in great shape!

Fitness

When it comes to taking care of our bodies, getting exercise is just as important as eating healthy foods. Physical exercise strengthens our muscles and our hearts and can help our bodies fend off disease and illness. There are all kinds of ways we can stay active and work physical exercise into our daily lives. If you enjoy sports, you can play football, basketball, soccer, or baseball on a team or with your friends. Traditional outdoor games that involve running, like Tag and Capture the Flag, can also be a form of exercise. If your friends are busy, you can always go for a run by yourself or ride a bicycle around your neighborhood. It's important to get at least 60 minutes of physical exercise every day. If we spend too much of our time sitting in front of television sets and computer screens, we can end up developing serious health problems like diabetes.

The Human Body

The human body is made up of a number of smaller systems that all work together. The skeletal system, the nervous system, the cardiovascular system, the digestive system, and the muscular system are just a few of the major systems of the body. Our bones make up the skeletal system, which provides a framework for our bodies and protects our vital organs. The nervous system consists of our brains and nerves, and it allows our bodies to make sense of our surroundings. Our hearts and veins, which help bring oxygen and nutrients to the parts of our bodies, make up the cardiovascular system. The digestive system is responsible for breaking down the food we eat into smaller parts our bodies can use; it includes our stomachs and small intestines. Our muscles make up the muscular system and allow our bodies to move, including when we do things like eat or exercise.
