It’s National Heart Month – Show Yours Some Love
Written by Jen Jones, Feb 6, 2019
Champagne, roses, chocolate, and…cardiovascular health? That’s right, nothing says romance like a whole month dedicated to raising awareness about heart health. February is National Heart Month and, according to the CDC, heart disease is the leading cause of death for men and women. As you think about gifts for your loved ones this Valentine’s Day, consider the gift of a healthy heart.
The world we live in today makes it more difficult than ever to create an active lifestyle. Sedentary jobs have increased by more than 80 percent since 1950, and our average work week is longer. Full-time workers in the United States work about 47 hours each week – that’s more than 350 extra hours worked each year. With the demands on the modern worker and modern families, finding time for exercise and balanced nutrition often falls to the bottom of our list of priorities – putting us at risk for obesity, heart problems, and other health issues.
The good news is, as little as 30 minutes of activity, just three times a week can significantly lower your risk of heart disease and improve your overall health and well-being. The American Heart Association (AHA) recommends at least 150 minutes of moderate activity, or 75 minutes of vigorous activity weekly. Ready to start leading a more active, heart-healthy lifestyle? 9Round’s high-intensity kickboxing workout will help you crush the AHA’s recommendation by attending just three sessions each week!
Each 9Round kickboxing workout is only 30 minutes in length and gives you a total body workout, making it fun and easy to meet the AHA’s recommendation of at least 75 minutes of exercise weekly. If you’re worried that your fitness level isn’t advanced enough for a kickboxing workout, fear not. The 9Round fitness program can take you from couch potato to crushing your fitness goals at a pace that works for you.
