Pumpkin Spice: A Word of Advice

The onset of fall brings more than changing leaves and football season. If you’re breathing, you know that fall means pumpkin. spice. everything. And we mostly have Starbucks to thank for that (hashtag PSL) but everyone is getting in on the game. Pumpkin spice lattes, pumpkin donuts, pumpkin spice coffee creamer, milkshakes, the list goes on. But with the decadent flavor that has become synonymous with fall, often comes a hefty calorie count and an unsavory ingredient list. Take our advice and don’t get tricked by these treats this fall. Instead, give your pumpkin spice addiction a healthy twist with these 9Round approved recipes!

 

Pumpkin Pie Protein Pancakes

Try saying that five times fast! These pumpkin pie protein pancakes pack a punch (we can’t help it, we love alliteration.) Get all the flavors of your favorite fall treat in this protein-packed flapjack. (makes 4 servings)

1/2 cup unsweetened canned pumpkin puree

1 cup almond milk, unsweetened

1 cup whole grain pancake mix (like this one)

2 scoops 9Round Vanilla Ice Cream Protein

1 tsp pumpkin pie spice

Mix dry ingredients. In a separate bowl, mix pumpkin, almond milk and almond butter. Combine wet and dry ingredients and stir with a fork until combined (mixture should still be a little lumpy.) Pour 1/3 cup portions onto hot pan or griddle, cook, and enjoy!

 

Spiced Pumpkin Protein Shake

All of the taste you expect from a pumpkin pie shake, none of the guilt. Fuel your workout with this spiced up fall treat.

1 tbsp almond butter
½ teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
1 scoop 9Round Vanilla Ice Cream Protein
½ cup unsweetened canned pumpkin puree
1 cup almond milk, unsweetened
¼ cup ice

Blend and enjoy
