Take Better Care of Your Body with These Secret Weapons

In last week’s blog, we taught you some basic principles of healthy eating, and now we’re going to share more about the importance of taking care of your body with nutrition and rest. When it comes to taking care of yourself, regular exercise, good nutrition, and proper rest are all equally important. You can’t expect to live a healthy lifestyle if one of these areas is lacking, so let’s take a look at some of the simple rules you should remember regarding nutrition, rest, and exercise.

Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate

As you probably learned back in your school health classes, the body is roughly 60 percent water, which means good old H2O an essential substance for maintaining life. One of the biggest benefits of being properly hydrated throughout the day is that it helps curb your appetite to prevent you from feeling too hungry between meals or snacks. It’s important to drink at least a gallon of water a day to stay hydrated, and you should always start with a glass first thing in the morning to refresh your body after sleeping for hours without any water.

Get Your Rest In

Thanks to the endless amount of entertainment at our fingertips with modern smartphones, it’s easy to find yourself scrolling and scrolling right past midnight. But sleep and proper rest are essential for your body’s recovery process, especially if you’re kickin’ it with us multiple times a week. You should aim to get around seven to nine hours of sleep per night to ensure your body has time to rest and recover. Being well-rested can also help prevent you from consuming extra calories throughout the day, as being tired can lead to excessive hunger since your body is lacking energy.

Refuel After Exercise

An important part of understanding nutrition is knowing when it’s time to add more fuel to your system. After an intense 9Round workout, your body has depleted much of its glycogen stores to give you energy while you were exercising. Your body also undergoes a protein synthesis following your workout, where it sends protein molecules to your muscles to help them repair and grow. This means it’s critical that you refuel your body with a healthy snack or meal following each workout, such as our 9Round protein bars. This helps with the recovery process and can help increase your overall results.

Pro Tip: We recommend timing your workouts to fit in between your meal schedule whenever possible, so you can ensure you’re eating a meal or snack within one hour of completing your workout.
