The Meaning of UP
Our 2016 World Convention was this past weekend. What a great time was had by all! There were workouts, inspiration, fun and new friendships made. People were truly SSL…sweating, smiling & learning! That is what 9Round is all about as a global brand.
Our theme this year for the convention was UP!
What exactly does that mean? For starters we loved how universally usable this phrase is. You can UP your customer service quality, UP your marketing, UP your service or better than ever: UP your standards. Raise the bar for yourself. What could be more life changing? Honestly, not much.
We had the pleasure of hosting the legendary Les Brown as a speaker at our convention as well! He was phenomenal with quotes like “anger blows out the lamp of the mind” and “find a drive that won’t allow you to check out.” These short sentences, if pondered deeply, will change you or at least change your direction.
Do you have past anger that still holds you back? That should be addressed. It’s holding up your life. Healing anger may not happen overnight, but if you can at least address the cause of the anger, become aware and consciously begin to forgive and let go, the process may not be as hard as you had anticipated. The other side of that healing will most definitely be worth it!
Do you have purpose in your life that is so profound, that no excuse is big enough to allow you to quit on that cause? If not, find it! You owe it to yourself to have a ‘drive that won’t allow you to check out.’ This stuff is the stuff that makes you dig, and dig deep! If you aren’t digging deep, then how meaningful is your life? I want to push myself UP so far that I always know I’m trying my best and being the most UP version of myself I can possibly be.
Les gave us some great takeaway points; even one that formed a fun acronym with the word ROUND from our brand name, 9ROUND. Here it is:
Unite with other winners
Never give up
Dominate your marketplace
Les spoke briefly on each of these points and by the end of it, all of our 9Round Owners, myself included, were thinking of more ways to be world class at serving our markets with the most incredible workout available.
If you aren’t familiar with Les Brown, I highly suggest you check him out on YouTube. He is world class at motivating through stories that we can all relate to. (Throw in the fact that he’s also 70 years old and still going strong!) He’s amazing.
I will leave you with this incredible quote from Mr. Brown: “If you do what is easy, your life will be hard. If you’ll do what is hard, your life will be easy.” This hit me profoundly. It also helped me understand why there’s such a small percentage of people who are successful entrepreneurs.
But, once you get it rolling it does indeed make your life easier. I don’t mean easy in the sense of laying on the couch watching soaps and eating bon-bons.
That sounds easy….(AND BORING).
The ‘easy’ you get with entrepreneurialism is freedom you didn’t have before. Freedom to call your life’s shots the way you want to.
The freedom of architecting my life, my way has been worth every single thing I’ve been through on the journey to this point. On top of that, I get the joy of changing lives through health and fitness! Talk about a dream “job”!
It goes to prove that paying it forward and giving good service to others is the the best lifestyle you can have because the rewards that come with it are never ending. J
