9Round Recognized Among the Fastest-Growing Franchises
Ranked at number 20 on the Fastest-Growing Franchises list by Entrepreneur magazine, 9Round is recognizing its highest ranking ever received on this list of 150 total franchises. 9Round’s ability to grow, along with each franchisee is an accomplishment that our Founder and CEO, Shannon Hudson, is extremely proud of. “Ranking among the top 20 fastest-growing franchises this year is a testament to the success of the aggressive expansion efforts made by our brand in recent years.”
Being included on this list a prestigious honor, as it is also dependent on being included in Entrepreneur magazine’s prestigious Franchise 500 ranking. To be included on that list means 9Round rose to the top in comparison to over 1,000 applicants, revealing that our franchise has the ability to evolve and remain strong year after year.
With locations currently open in 18 countries (and counting!), the potential to keep growing is infinite. Hudson stated, “Just last year, we opened 202 locations around the world, surpassing 770 locations across our global network. Our growth continues to accelerate year after year, and we project that we will have a total of 1,000 studios open and operating by the end of 2020.”
We sat down with Shannon to get his thoughts on growth for 9Round as a whole:
Q: What do you think has been the single most important factor to 9Round’s rapid growth?
A: Creating a business that is simple, meaning it doesn't have a ton of moving parts. Plus, keeping the initial investment relatively low compared to other fitness brands has been key.
Q: How do you intend to sustain the growth 9Round has already had and keep up the momentum?
A: We follow our value, KAIZEN. KAIZEN means that we’re always adapting to improve our products and services to 9Round members as well as franchisees, as necessary. We’re always learning, studying, tweaking, testing, and hiring great talent.
Q: What do you think attracts potential franchisees to 9Round?
A: Again, our commitment to our Core Values is key.

In addition, having a proven system that is simple to open and operate at a relatively low cost certainly doesn’t hurt.
Q: When you look at the next few years ahead, what are some of the things that excite you most as CEO?
A: I love enabling franchisees to provide jobs in their local communities, and of course, I love helping people with their health and fitness. As we grow internationally, we get the opportunity to reach more and more people in both of these manners. In the past twelve months, we have opened in six countries and are slated to open in several more within the next year.
Q: How do you see fitness trends, like wearable tech, being incorporated into 9Round?
A: Over the years, we have incorporated technology into our system, and we think it’s very important to continue to innovate and adapt to changing technology. Our PULSE heart rate training technology has become very important in our business and has changed the game for members tracking their progress during and after their 9Round workouts. We’re constantly looking for new ways to stay ahead of the trends, while still keeping our model as simple and low cost as possible. And, while we know this is all important, we also know that even great tech will never take the place of excellent customer service and person-to-person interaction.
