9Round’s Kick Event Sees Record Breaking Numbers
9Round, a major kickboxing fitness gym, hosted its 5th annual Kick Event on October 13th. This event helps to raise awareness and money for breast cancer. Every 9Round throughout the US participates in the event. Each club counts each and everyone of their members’ kicks for the entire day, and then at the end of the day, each club donates one penny for every kick tallied. A penny may seem like a small amount in the eyes of some, but you could be surprised at how a little bit from everyone can add up.
This year, by the end of the day, there was a total of 17,962,182 kicks tallied. This all adds up to $179,621.82 raised to help advance research and treatment of breast cancer. This year the fitness center saw an outstanding increase in numbers, and they nearly matched the total of all four of the previous years combined. It is overwhelming to see what you can do, and since launching the Kick Event in 2012, 9Round has recorded around 37 million kicks and raised nearly $370,000 for breast cancer research and treatment.
Shannon Hudson, founder and CEO of 9Round, is more than happy to see the success of 9Round’s Kick Event and states, “All of us know somebody who has or has had cancer. We’re all touched by this, but by coming in and doing this small thing you’re making a difference. You’re making this important, at least for one day. Even if you never think about it again, it was important for those 30 minutes. We are extremely grateful for all those who have continued to make this event a tremendous success.”
