Entrepreneur Magazine Spotlights 9Round Owner April Porter
April Porter, owner of 9Round Creve Coeur and 9Round Wildwood, recently got the chance to be interviewed by Entrepreneur Magazine. The former government prosecutor jumped at the chance to tell the magazine how she made the jump from “a life of crime” to being a fitness franchise owner. She recalls prosecuting the worst of the worst and even needing police protection after one of her cases. Her line of work was dangerous and draining, which made her question what she could do next. She had a passion for fitness and had even taught weekly fitness classes during her prosecution days. She then discovered that she had friends in Kansas City who were happily running a 9Round fitness center and thought maybe they were on to something.
April decided to go ahead and take the plunge. She became a business owner through opening 9Round Wildwood and 9Round Creve Coeur. It was an easy choice for her, especially with her friends and a team of professionals from 9Round by her side. She even states that franchising is an easier way to own your own business because someone else has experienced the trials and errors for you and then eliminated the errors. It gives you a better chance for success and a smaller margin of error. However, she knows owning your own business is always going to be a lot of hard work. You have to live and breathe your business, so the best advice she can give is that you need to make sure you are passionate about the business you choose.
