Sam "Cold Broo" Edwards is a part time college student, black belt, and full time trainer. When she's not with her dog she's drinking cold brew coffee... at the gym. I have never wanted to become a member of a gym. I always believed that it was a money grab filled with confusing machinery and people who yelled at you while you were working out, called it training ... and charged MORE on top of the already unreasonable fee. With 9Round, I am having an exact opposite experience. The workout is predetermined so I dont have to think and learn exercises to teach myself. I have a trainer present at each round/station that observes to make sure I am correctly executing the exercise and receiving the benefit of the repetition which is INCLUDED in my fee...and they dont yell. I aim to work out 4 to 5 times a week, and because I am not overwhelmed with all of the other usual factors that come into play in a standard gym set up. All I have to bring is will power and dedication. My results have been holistically and exponentially favorable for me. I love that after 30 minutes I feel like I have worked out every part of my body and always feel challenged by the workouts. 30 minutes is also much easier to fit into a very busy schedule like mine, ... so it is harder to justify skipping a day - which is great. Things don't get boring since the workout changes each day. I used to only work out on machines, and have never done group classes. I have found that working out at 9round where trainers and (usually) other members are present is the perfect middle ground for me, as someone who likes to work out solo, because I'm technically still exercising individually, but there are other people around to help motivate me to push a little harder. The trainers are very professional. They remember you by name if you show up enough. They will adapt trainer lead rounds to the skill level of the individual. I'm always in and out in under 37 minutes... even when there's a crowd. They forget to charge me for water half the time even when I remind them. 9 Rounds in Crown Heights on Nostrand Ave. is dope. I wish I could get there more frequently, but with a demanding full-time job and a toddler I probably go 2x a week. Even with just that though, in the last 8 months I have trimmed down significantly a... nd recently ran a 5k with only a small amount of training.
