Why We Love Kickboxing

Kickboxing is becoming one of the fastest growing trends in the fitness industry, but it is sure to be one trend that will be sticking around. There are many benefits to adding this workout into your fitness routine. It is an easy way to lose weight, burn calories and get stronger. People who are familiar with kickboxing will tell you they absolutely love it! Here are just a few reasons why:


  1. You can burn up to 500 calories in as little as 30 minutes! Here are just a few examples of what you can do to burn that many calories:


  • Clean the house for 2 hours

  • Garden for 1 and a half hours

  • Take a 1 hour intense aerobics class


So, whether you are a stay at home mom like myself or have a full-time job, these activities simply can’t fit into your everyday schedule. There are many days throughout the week that I can barely get wet diapers off my floor let alone clean my house for two hours. It’s sad but true. If it only takes 2% of my day to easily burn 500 calories, then THIS is the fitness routine I would choose to squeeze into my chaotic schedule.


2.  Kickboxing is a full body workout. It incorporates your entire body. You use your abdominal muscles for balance; your arms, shoulders and back for punching and your leg muscles for kicking! Think about walking into your local gym. In order to get a full workout, you need to get on the treadmill for cardio and then hit the weights to get your strength training. You can save some time by combining all of your workouts into just one routine!


3. It’s the PERFECT way to relieve stress. We all know stress can have many negative effects on our body, especially when you allow it to build without any relief. Our bodies can benefit from stress reduction in many ways including: giving you more energy throughout the day and helping you sleep better at night. Kickboxing is a healthy way to get out some of the day’s frustrations. Let’s face it, we all enjoy punching and kicking a bag!


4. Feel strong and confident! That is exactly how I feel as I am kicking a bag. There is a feeling of empowerment, and it is AMAZING! Whether you are just now being introduced to kickboxing or you have some sort of experience, there will be new things to learn. However, learning and mastering these new skills can give you a sense of accomplishment you can be proud of.

Both men and women have absolutely fallen in love with kickboxing! Not only does it help you get into the best shape of your life, but you get to have fun doing it. I am sure a lot of people will agree with me that doing the same exercises week after week can be BORING, but if you start throwing in some punches and kicks, you will feel excited and invigorated.
