Pregnant & Fit!
I will admit during the whole nine months of my pregnancy, I probably worked out one time. I did the same thing the majority of women do when they find out they’re pregnant, I came up with excuses. We believe those nine months are reasons for us to indulge in whatever kinds of foods we want and be as lazy as we want. It sounds like an amazing plan, but it’s not healthy for you or the baby. Regular exercise helps you cope with the physical and mental demands of being pregnant. It helps prevent problems that could occur during your pregnancy such as pre-eclampsia or gestational diabetes. Regular exercise can improve your mood, and just as it does for any person with an active lifestyle, it can help you get a better night’s sleep. It helps you control your weight gain during, and it makes it easier for you to get back into shape after pregnancy.
Here’s a list of just a few benefits you get from staying active:
- It give you a boost of energy (we all need that, pregnant or not!)
- Prepares your body for giving birth
- Helps your body cope easier with the awful aches and pains
Of course there are exercises that pregnant women should avoid if they choose to stay active such as; high-impact exercises or programs. Every woman is different, and most of us go through different pregnancies. Talking to your doctor about what type of exercises you should avoid, and how often you should exercise will give you a better idea of where you should start.
While I was pregnant, I had no idea that I could stay so active without harming myself or my son. I knew there were some mommy-to-be classes such as yoga or Pilates, but I was never interested in those to begin with. If I had known that 9Round was able to help me stay active and fit, I would’ve been there from day one of my pregnancy. Since I became a member of 9Round, I have seen a few pregnant women kicking butt in there! The trainers were giving work outs to them that fit their fitness level. It’s just another great thing the 9Round fitness gym does for you. I know feeling good about your body is difficult during your pregnancy, I experienced that myself, but I truly believe that regular exercise can help improve that feeling. Don’t you always feel good about yourself after a great workout? You can experience that same feeling even while you are carrying a beautiful baby.
