About the team
Tim “Mayhem” Messina first discovered his passion for fitness during middle school while living in Stavanger, Norway. He eventually moved to Nebraska ...for high school, where he competed in basketball and rugby. During his time at UNL, he worked with Husker Power athletics as an intern strength & conditioning coach. He has worked with 9 different sports teams, and still works closely with the UNL wrestling team. Tim graduated with a bachelor’s in Nutrition, Exercise, and Health Sciences, and recently became a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS). His main hobbies include lifting and reading. He is also a huge fan of MMA and strives to become a performance coach for combat athletes in the future. His goal at 9Round is to provide a fun and effective workout in order positively impact people’s lives! More
I have been involved with 9Round since I was hired as the Manager at the 27th and Old Cheney location in April of 2016. I am a native of Wilber, Ne, b...ut have always been around the Lincoln area. I attended Doane College where I received my bachelor’s degree in Fitness Management. While at Doane, I was a member of the Tigers track and field team all 4 years. I have been involved in athletics my entire life, participating in basketball, football, baseball, and track and field while in high school at Wilber-Clatonia. Health and fitness has always been a priority of mine, but it didn’t become a passion of mine until my senior year of college when I decided to become a Certified Personal Trainer. Through my experience of helping people reach their health and fitness goals, I have become addicted to coaching, mentoring, and preparing people through their own transformations. Whether the goal is weight-loss, gaining lean muscle, or getting into a habit of exercising on a regular basis, the physical and mental strength gained during the process has made my career choice very rewarding. Each person has a different story, and assisting them to get on the right track through exercise has made my life a joy. As the old cliché says, “Do something you love and you’ll never work a day of your life.” That statement couldn’t be more true for me. When I’m not “working,” I enjoy spending time with my fiancé, Brandy, and my baby girl, Bentley, as well as other close friends and family. Traveling, fishing, attending sporting events, and enjoying a nice cheat meal are also on my go-to list when possible. My favorite round is #8. In my opinion, the speed bag is a mind game. Most members struggle (as I did) when they first try it, but once you get the rhythm, it’s so much fun! Once you get it mastered, you can add different exercises to the routine (burpees, squat jumps, etc.) to keep your heart rate elevated, which is great! I chose 9Round Fitness because I really appreciated the concept. Get a killer full-body workout in only 30 minutes?!? No way! But, once I gave a workout a try for myself, I was hooked! Working every muscle in your body, doing different exercises each and every day, on YOUR OWN WATCH (no class times rock!) is a recipe for success that I will always be passionate about. Bottom line for an effective workout program – Do you see results? The answer with 9Round is always YES!! In addition, I love building relationships with our members and having them know that our staff can be trusted and will do everything we can to help them reach their goals! More
"Rowdy Roddy" Todd
"Rowdy Roddy" Todd is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps helicopter-borne infantry and is familiar with intense training. He has spent many y...ears in fitness and martial arts, including MCMAP - the Marine Corps Martial Arts Program, and finds 9Round to be the ideal platform for combining his needs for high intensity sports and a passion for helping others develop a craft while reaching their fitness goals. Demetrius “All Day” Alexander was born and raised with a passion for fitness. His athletic background ranges from being selected to all star football ...games to engaging in combative training with fellow soldiers in his unit. Demetrius joined the military as a 17-year-old still in high school and the vigorous training he has gone through has molded him to a highly motivated individual with a drive for success. He attended the University of Nebraska Lincoln where he chose the major of nutrition and exercise science as well as work in the strength and conditioning field. The Demon is ready to get you fired up and help you pursue your fitness goals. More
Aaron "Slim Papi" is a native of Lincoln who’s always had a passion for sports and working out - primarily with basketball. After graduating Southea...st High School and then playing basketball in College, Aaron has spent loads of time doing skills training and coaching others and he's had plenty of experience around what it means to be fit and dedicated to a cause such as fitness. "Slim Papi" has always been a people person and loves encouraging and working with members to achieve their goals. In addition to Kickboxing, Aaron has had experience in strength training. Tyler graduated from The University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a bachelor's degree and has been with 9Round Fitness for several years. "TeeTimes" appre...ciates random road trips, music festivals, listening to vinyl records, parks and rec trivia, and substituting movie quotes for conversation. His favorite round is #5 – There are so many different variations and moves you can do with the wrecking ball. It’s always my go-to station! Why 9Round – Where do I start? I've been 9Round for almost 4 and a half years, starting in Memphis, Tennessee. I love everything about 9Round. From the concept to the members, everything is perfect to me! It incorporates your entire body, the workouts are always different and it’s only 30 minutes! I am thrilled to be a part of a motivated, reliable, action-oriented team. I love being a part of 9Round and being tuned into the needs of others and being able to create structure that allows them to follow through and see results. More
Kieron "Sub-Zero" Williams is a professional athlete and former starting safety and Blackshirt for Huskers football who is passionate for sports and p...eople. He has spent his entire life - since the age of 4 - being around fitness and playing sports including, football, basketball, track and field, and training at professional boxer Terence Crawford's camp. He finds 9Round the ideal place to continue building his resume for his love of sports and training. Dario “Hitman” Henry is originally from El Paso, Texas. He came to Nebraska to study Nutrition Exercise and Health Science at UNL. His fitness backgro...und started at the age of 6 when he started playing football and running track. He played sports all the way through high school and now keeps fit with weightlifting and kickboxing. Dario loves helping people and wants to be a strength coach someday. I love 9Round. It's such a great workout and has helped me so much. The best 30 min workout I have ever had. I was a Planet Fitness person for years and did not get results like the results I have go... t from 9Round. I had 4 friends sign up because they saw and heard the great time I have there . I love that I've been able to burn almost 500 calories in 30 minutes. Its quick but not easy. I used to spend hours at the gym trying to get done what I now get done in much less.
