  • I am getting stronger, which is super exciting. I have had five knee surgeries, so I wasn't sure if I could even do this workout. It has been exhilarating ! And freeing! The trainers help me adapt my workout (for example, round kicks don't work for me), so I do front kicks and other things. And I sweat and sweat and I love it. I am so thankful for this workout!!

  • I really like that the staff know my name. That's really cool, I've been part of several gyms and they may speak when you sign-in but they've never taken the time to actually learn my name. I love that the workouts are only 30 minutes and you can pretty much come at any time and jump right in. I also love the variety of workouts, rarely if ever have we done the same exact routine twice and I've been a member sine September 2016.

  • The trainers really work with you. Because I am older and have a few ailments the trainers let me work at "my" best pace. I may not be able to move as fast as some of the other members, the trainers still encourage me to never give up. I appreciate the support both physically and mentally. I love 9 rounds.

  • Hands-down: the trainers!! If it weren’t for them, i wouldn’t have the motivation to go in! I wouldn’t push myself, I’d still be doing what i was doing and getting no results. They make me want to get better. They make me want to learn new skills and try new moves, they show me how and help me work up to harder things. They inspire me to grab heavier weights, to go faster, and to just plain stick with it. Dede Kelley is my hero and has personally helped me lose almost 20 pounds, countless inches, and get out of plus size clothing. She’s inspired me to win the fall fitness challenge, and I’m entered to win the spring challenge. I have about 30 more pounds to lose and i have no doubt that 9round will get me there.

    Matthew Hegele
    Matthew has owned and operated 9Round in Louisville for almost 4 years now. He began with just one location in St. Matthews with a clear goal in mind; to take over the entire Louisville market... and he has done just that. Born and raised in Louisville, Matthew has a clear passion for this city and the people in it. He is extremely passionate about the members in his gyms, and just getting to know people, in general. Chances are, if you've met Matthew one time, he'll remember you by name! Matthew has a pretty extensive background in mixed martial arts, including kickboxing. Over 4 years of Tae Kown Do, judo, kickboxing and boxing experience, as well as extensive experience in the fitness industry, has given Matthew the knowledge and passion he needed to operate a gym like 9Round. If he's not training members in his gyms, chances are that Matthew's working from home with a cup of coffee, running errands, hiking some trails, or eating massive amounts of food somewhere (his other passion)!

    Jenna "Bane" Bain
    Jenna is the Assistant Manager and Lead Trainer at 9Round Highlands. She has always taken an interest in fitness, which was first sparked when she started dancing at the age of 10. She danced for her schools, and after graduating, she went on to dance and perform professionally. While dancing Jenna always sought other forms of fitness to keep her interest including; rock climbing, trail running, and others. Her love of fitness lead her to help others reach their fitness goals, and has since joined the 9Round team! Jenna loves seeing the members come in for a workout and leave feeling great. She strives to give everyone a positive experience, and sense of accomplishment, with every workout!

    Marisa "M.C. Slammer" Carrozza
    Marisa "M.C. Slammer" Carrozza is a University of Louisville Doctoral student in Audiology. She moved to Louisville from a small, farming town in Northern Illinois in 2017. Aside from working at 9Round, you'll find Marisa serving at Eat-A-Pita on Bardstown Road a few nights a week, studying at Safai, sitting on her couch to catch up Netflix shows, or re-reading the Harry Potter series! As far as fitness goes, Marisa LOVES working out here at 9Round Highlands. running (well, sometimes), and lifting weights. 9Round has caused Marisa to fall in love with high-intensity interval training (HIIT workouts), and she hasn't looked back since. "I love 9Round because it's a HIIT workout that gets my heart pumping, a core workout that tightens my stomach, and everything in between! It's the best total-body workout ever. Being a trainer at 9Round keeps me moving, and introduces me to so many awesome members!"

    Olivia "Oli Hustle" Hahn
    Olivia "Oli Hustle" Hahn will whip you into shape! She is a native of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and is currently a doctoral student at the University of Louisville School of Medicine. A former college athlete, Olivia was in need of a place that was energetic and motivating, to help continue her healthy, fitness-based lifestyle. She joined our 9Round team in January of 2018! Olivia's favorite hobbies include going to sporting events, cooking, and spending time with her pup, Floyd. As a trainer, her goal is to make sure that every single member leaves the gym feeling challenged, accomplished, and sweaty! "9Round has been a blessing in my life. There has never been a work shift that leaves me feeling anything but uplifted! Having the opportunity to assist our members in breaking their barriers, both physically and mentally, is extremely rewarding. We are ALL on the same team here!"

    Olivia "The Survivor" Hummel
    Olivia "The Survivor" Hummel is pursuing her nursing degree at Galen College of Nursing, in hopes to become a flight nurse one day. Soon after starting her college career, Olivia became a member at 9Round, and LOVED it! Fairly soon after, she received an offer to work at 9Round, and took it immediately. Olivia has a clear passion for fitness, and often tells us that she mainly works out so that she can eat french fries. Who can relate? Olivia also loves participating in Tough Mudder events, and has a HUGE goal/passion to make it onto the show Survivor, some day! She hopes to cross that off of her bucket list in the near future! Olivia loves being a trainer at 9Round because it gives her the opportunity to push members to reach their goals, as well as their limits. Her bubbly attitude, and ability to make ANYONE have a great workout, is why we love having her her at 9Round!
