DO NOT be afraid to have the trainers modify any part of the workout for you. All body types, all workout levels are present, but you're so focused on your station (only have 3 minutes) that no one cares what you look like except you! It's family and friends comfort style, but not stand-around talking because each round is only 3 minutes and in that 3 minutes you've got a different workout to get through!

  • When I came in for my first workout I was nervous and wasn't quite sure what to expect, I wasn't even sure I could do something like this. Upon walking into the gym I was greeted by the owner, Keba, her calm and friendly demeanor quickly eased my nervousness and she reassured me very confidently that this is something I can definitely do! By the end of that workout I was sold and had Keba sign me up! All the trainers are amazing to work with they guide you and push you without over intimidating you, this was very important to me since I've always gotten anxious working out with new people. Their motivation and upbeat personalities help get you through a very challenging workout! 7 months in and I know that I've still got a ways to go on my fitness journey but I also know that I've already come a long way. I feel healthier and stronger and the best part... I still love it as much, if not more, than when I first came in!!! I definitely recommend joining the 9round-Natomas family!!!!

  • I have been going to 9round since they have opened in October, and I have no regrets . Keba and her staff are awesome and are always friendly and motivating. From the very beginning I felt welcomed from both the staff, and the other members. 9round is a great workout that gets you moving and sweating in a fun and encouraging environment. 9round is a kickboxing circuit training workout consisting of (wait for it...) 9rounds of three minutes each, combining cardio, strength, kickboxing and core work, with 30 seconds of active recovery in between each round. There is always a trainer on the floor explaining and demonstrating the moves, so you don't feel lost. To keep things new and to work your body in different ways to avoid workout boredom the trainers mix it up by incorporating pad work (punching and kicking) with you on some rounds, and the workouts change every day. Another tool they use is a heart monitoring system that keeps track of your heart rate and displays what "zones" you are in on a monitor in the gym. This gives an easy visual to know when you should dial it back a little as to not overwork your heart, stay in the fat burning zones , and not burn off any muscle. At the end of your workout you get an email with your stats (calorie burn, times in different zones, max heart rate, average heart rate). They are also recorded on your online account and you can see your progress as time goes on. I highly recommend it. In addition to being a great workout, as a member of 9round you also have access to 9Round Nutrition online, where you can get meal plans, numerous articles and videos to help with your health goals. The big selling point for me, in my mind, was the fact that 9round does not have any class times. As long as they are open, you can workout (last workout starts 40 min prior to the posted closing time). Having that flexibility, especially when trying to balance family schedules, work and whatever else life throws at you, is awesome. And realistically, it's 30 min. You can find 30 min. If you are motivated enough and have the time, go around again, they will change the workout for you. Overall I would definitely recommend 9round for anybody wanting to better their health and get a great workout in a non-intimidating environment. The first workout is free, so at the very least give it a try.

    Keba "The Konqueror" Arnold
    Keba “The Konqueror” Arnold has been athletic and a sports fan since she was a little girl. She played basketball and ran track in middle school and high school. As a graduate of the University of Georgia, she loves college football too! Keba became interested in kickboxing after taking Body Combat classes in Downtown Sacramento. When she moved to the East Bay in the Summer of 2015, that’s when she found 9Round in Walnut Creek and fell in love! The rest is history. CPR/AED certified, Keba believes in 9Round so much, she decided to leave her career to open up 9Round Natomas! She can’t wait to help you reach your fitness goals, one round at a time!

    Tomas "Lord Vader" Montoya
    Tomas "Lord Vader" Montoya grew up playing football and wrestling in Sacramento. After graduating from UC Davis in 2010, Tomas worked as a biochemist and trained in Muay Thai kickboxing at American Kickboxing Academy in San Jose. He fell in love with kickboxing immediately and recently transitioned into training and fighting mixed martial arts with Team Alpha Male in Sacramento. Tomas has 6 years of Muay Thai and American Kickboxing experience, and is a firm believer that hard work and dedication are key in achieving any fitness goal.

    Moses "The Truth" Pacheco
    Moses “The Truth” Pacheco is a U.S Military Veteran. Moses has earned two degrees in Criminal Justice, and Network Systems Administration. He is currently working on his third degree. Moses has an athletic background and is a two time gold glove at 165 lbs in Bronx, New York. He played baseball for 10 years, including 3 years of Division 1 baseball for Sacred Heart University. Fitness is part of his life and he enjoys seeing people reach their goals. In fact, one of his clients is an amateur fighter for Team Alpha Male.

    Chris "The Crippler" Reynolds
    Chris "The Crippler" Reynolds was born and raised in Natomas. In high school Chris was on the wrestling and soccer team. After graduating, Chris became engrossed with strength training. After a couple of strength training years, he started to accumulate muscle imbalances and different afflictions like, a hernia that made him reassess the way he exercised. Not only was his body imbalanced, but his performance and movement were suffering as well. Doing the full body workout at 9Round addresses all your needs at the same time and allows you to get away from the monotony of compound movements and tedious cardio. Chris is excited to be a part of the 9Round Family!

    Mike "The Refresher" Bolden grew up playing basketball and soccer. During college, a knee injury slowed down Mike, but he loved the workout atmosphere so much, he continued to keep in shape. Mike started out as a member with 9round and loved every bit of it. Soon after joining, he became a 9Round Trainer. He quickly learned it's a great way to stay fit.     Ivan “The Beast” Somarriba began his fitness journey straight out of high school. He felt the need and wanted healthy energy in his system, so he decided to dedicate his time to working out.     Maurice "Salamander" Mitchell is originally from Anchorage, Alaska where his career in fitness began. Maurice is a professional fighter, fighting out of Team Alpha Male here in Sacramento, with a record of 10-1. He has been training and fighting in the sport for 9 years and has trained along some of the world's best, while fighting to get a shot at the big show. Maurice has professional experience preparing for fights, cutting weight, gaining muscle, dieting, coaching fitness and technical mixed martial arts. He is here and ready to help YOU reach all of your health and fitness goals!

    Adrian "8 Limbs" Ponenala
    Adrian "8 Limbs" Ponenala was taught the ancient militaristic form of Muay Thai known as 'Muay Boran' at the age of 10 by his father, who served in the secret army of Laos. Taking a brief hiatus from training, he learned the meditative and philosophical side of the ancient art as a Buddhist monk. Adrian later rekindled his passion for martial arts, picking up the Indonesian martial art 'Pencak Silat' and the Brazilian 'Capoeira'. He believes that hard work and consistency are the backbones to achieving fitness goals. Adrian looks forward to being a part of your training!
