About the team
Emma was never into fitness or even played sports, but after trying a free workout at 9Round she begged her parents to get her a membership. Luckily s...he got one as a graduation gift. 3 years later she was scouted and hired due to her lovely personality and genuine care for the members. Emma is a natural leader. 9Round has started Emma on her fitness journey and now she loves helping members get their start. She is now also a nationally certified personal trainer through ACE. But don't let her pleasant personality fool you, there is a reason we call her 'Machine Gun,' and if you get to see her go through the workout you will know why by the speed bag on Round 8 (Emma's favorite round). She is also a snake charmer, meaning she has 2 snakes and loves all animals. In her spare time Emma draws... A LOT, even tattoos. You can usually see her chalk art outside the shop. Fun Fact: At the end of the day Emma likes to sing while cleaning the gym, which has gotten her some applause from the restaurant next door to us. More
Deon is a born athlete and a top veteran trainer. He was a 3 sport athlete in high school and college: football, basketball, and track. He dove more i...nto boxing the last 2 years, bringing with him a combination for speed and power. Deon loves meeting new people and helping them meet their goals. Zack has shown time and time again that he is here for the members. Zack started off training in kickboxing in his first year of college and fell in l...ove right away. Not only has he seen physical improvements in himself, such as more muscle definition and slimming down, but he has also seen a decrease in stress and a huge spike in his energy levels. You’ll see when you come in, he’s got energy. Members say it radiates from him and it helps them go harder and pushes them to get to the end. Zack strives to have members see changes that he saw in himself through kickboxing. His goal each day he’s in the studio is to help members get at least one step closer to their fitness goals; whether that’s through giving a butt-kicking workout, or talking with them about some healthy tips that they can incorporate outside the studio. The Motion Creates Emotion
Born on the Black Sea coast of a small European country - Bulgaria, Deni was always passionate about sports. At the age of 12 she started windsurfing ...and scuba diving and later got certified in both. She needed more strength and endurance to be competitive and she found and fell in love with the Kickboxing and weight training. At a later age she also attended a few years of boxing classes. Deni moved to the United States 2010 where she had her 2 boys. She struggled losing weight after her second child and being fit all her life she felt that she needed to do something to feel good about herself. She started doing weight training and quickly became motivation for her friends and encouraged a lot of them to start training. But she still felt like something was missing. That’s when she discovered 9Round in 2015 and fell in love with the philosophy of the company. She said to herself - I want to do that! This is the place I would feel energized. That work won’t be just work for me - it will be something that makes me happy, grateful and complete. Today she works at 9Round AH and wakes up excited to open the gym and meet all the members. She is one happy working mom whose kids are proudly telling all of their friends what an exciting work mommy does. Favorite workout: core and arms. More
California born, Eric does pretty much any physical activity on the planet. He started mountain biking, rock climbing and gymnastics. He later moved i...nto team sports such as ice hockey and ultimate Frisbee. He has done Duathlons, Triathlons, and regularly goes on 100 mile bike rides. His love for boxing developed studying Rumi Maki boxing and he has been developing his craft ever since. He loves talking to 9Round members on how to help them improve their form and gets them excited about the next challenge, next pad round, next day that we get to keep training. He is also very approachable and willing to help members succeed. Fun facts: Not only has Eric rafted the largest commercially raftable waterfall in the US, he also speaks Mandarin and is finishing his finance degree at UIC. More
Dorothy is a jack of all trades. She had not been an athlete until 4 years ago when she made the decision to get fit through kickboxing at the age of ...30 and stuck with it. Maximizing on her training, she quickly advanced, began sparring, and in less than 2 years began competing and winning. Currently, she is a globally recognized level 3 kickboxer with the WTBA. Her instruction is based on the concept that training needs to be fun, which is what she brings to each members’ workout. Due to her experience, she is able to get new members comfortable and advancing quickly, as well as push seasoned veterans as if they were in a fight camp. Since competing, Dorothy is continually developing mental toughness and teaches others how to push past their own limitations to achieve the life they keep procrastinating on. More

I love helping others find the same passion, discipline, and self-confidence that the martial arts has given me. I have trained in Kenpo Karate and achieved a purple belt - my future goal is to make it to black belt. I’m currently training in Muay Thai and cultivating my skills as a fighter.” More
