Working Out During Pregnancy
Once upon a time, expecting mothers were viewed as delicate and fragile creatures who need only be concerned with eating for two and putting their feet up to rest. Fortunately, times have changed and it’s now widely acknowledged that exercise and maintaining a healthy diet throughout pregnancy has many benefits. With pregnancy-related conditions such as preeclampsia and gestational diabetes on the rise, leading an active lifestyle and eating right is encouraged more than ever.
In most cases, exercise is safe during pregnancy, and is even recommended. If you were physically active before you were pregnant, it is likely safe to remain active during pregnancy. But as with anything during pregnancy, consult your physician to determine what type of physical activity is safe for you before you attempt it. According to the American Pregnancy Association, exercising for 30 minutes (the length of a 9Round workout) on most days can greatly benefit your health during pregnancy. The following are just a few of the perks of working out regularly while pregnant:
- Helps reduce backaches, constipation, bloating, and swelling
- May help prevent, or treat, gestational diabetes
- Increases your energy
- Improves your mood
- Improves your posture
- Promotes muscle tone, strength, and endurance
- Helps you sleep better
- Regular activity also helps keep you fit during pregnancy and may improve your ability to cope with labor. This will make it easier for you to get back in shape after your baby is born.
9Round provides a safe and effective workout for pregnant women (again, clear it with your doctor first) and can help you bounce back faster after delivery. 9Round certified trainers are always on-hand to modify workouts and ensure you’re safely executing moves throughout each stage of pregnancy. Additionally, 9Round’s PULSE™ heart rate technology will help you monitor the amount of work your heart is doing, ensuring you are getting the most out of the workout without overexerting yourself.
