Stay Fit While Enjoying Your Thanksgiving Feast!
I know right around the holidays it is difficult to stay in shape. There are lots of lunches and dinners to attend, and the delicious foods can be extremely tempting!
It almost seems like nutrition is completely thrown out of the window, and you don’t really have that motivation to keep up with your workout regimen. I know it can be difficult to stay away from the stuffing, mashed potatoes, and desserts but there is a way to enjoy your food without feeling guilty about it.
If you are like me or the majority of people out there, you look forward to Thanksgiving so that you can enjoy a great meal with your family.
Here are some fitness and health tips I try to follow around this time of the year!
- I remind myself that 9Round is only 30 minutes of my day
Knowing that my workout is only 30 minutes and it’s a full body work out makes me feel more likely to get up and go workout!
- House Chores
Cleaning can burn more calories than you think! Before you decide to sit down on the couch and watch the television; find a house chore to keep you busy. (We all know, there is ALWAYS something to do to tidy up the home) Keep it fitness related by doing 10 push-ups or squats after every chore. It all adds up!
- Get Outside
If you find yourself with a little free time and you’re unsure as to what to do, rather than mindlessly snacking, get outside and go for a short walk. Even better, grab someone to go with you! It will keep you from adopting a completely sloth like lifestyle over the holidays.
- Eat all day
As you starve yourself and wait for dinner, you’ll binge. Eat breakfast, a snack, lunch a snack, and then a normal size Thanksgiving dinner, and you won’t go as wrong as you think!
- Stay Hydrated
Drink lots of water throughout the day, it really does help your body from feeling ‘fake’ huger (aka boredom!).
- Accept it. There’s no real DIET Thanksgiving food
Before you load your plate, walk the entire area of food and see all your choices. Then, as this is ONCE a year, pick your absolute FAVORITE foods, guilt free. Get one portion of each. A lot of people go back for seconds because they missed an item (which was their favorite) and they HAVE to eat that now… but they already filled up on something they didn’t’ really LOVE. Then, they end up stuffed and miserable. Allow yourself to enjoy every bite of all your favs that fit on one plate (including dessert), knowing your plate is customized to your exact taste buds. YUMMY! Then, just eat that ONE plate and be completely satisfied. This will make you feel HAPPY, not deprived, but not sick and miserable. Isn’t that what we all really want?
DON’T, DON’T, DON’T take home leftovers.
Don’t turn it into Thanksgiving WEEK. Do yourself a favor. Don’t take it home. You WILL eat it for days, and that’s how we turn one meal into unwanted POUNDS.
The Next Day
Get right back on track with 5-6 small meals a day. That’s it! It’s over and there was minimal damage.
Don’t let the holidays backtrack you from reaching those fitness goals!
