This place is awesome!! I swam and played water polo in college then got into lifting weights. Well as time went on and we had a kid the motivation to workout left me. I knew I needed to get back in shape and the thought of running or going to a gym did not appeal to me anymore. My wife encouraged me to try the free first round and let me tell you, I got it handed to me. Even though my butt was kicked, I really enjoyed the experience! The trainers are very motivating and encourage you to push yourself. They do this in a positive way and it makes me want to work harder because I don't want them to think I'm slacking or letting them down. Half the time I think they get a workout following me around with a mop because I'm sweating so much. The trainers at 9round are well aware of how intense the workout is because they have to do them as well. They know how sore you'll be the next day but also how better you'll feel about yourself after the workout. Basically if you want to get into shape and hate regular cardio and don't want to go to the gym because you may spend most of your time there socializing (you won't socialize at 9round because you'll be concentrating on catching your breath) and not getting the results you want, give 9round a shot. You won't be disappointed, you'll feet better, and you'll get one hell of a workout in 30 minutes. You can't get results like this at a gym in 30 minutes, plus you get to punch and kick the stress of your day away. One more thing. 9round advertises that you will burn at least 500 kcal per workout, this is an understatement. While wearing the MyZone heart monitor (which you can get at 9round and I encourage you to do so) I average between 700 and 800 kcal per workout. So, join 9round, sweat your butt off, relieve stress, get in shape, see results and do it in 30 minutes. So no excuses. I also want to give a personal thank you to Dan and the rest of the trainers at 9round of Holly Springs, NC for helping me get my motivation back to living a healthy lifestyle again and for being so nice to Will, he loves seeing you all. I don't often write on-line reviews but I really wanted to share my awesome experience at 9Round. It's been about 2 months since I joined and i've already experienced incredible benefits and exceeded my initial expectations. I've lost weight (more to go), inches, and simply feel great about myself. I've been a member of many gyms and as I reflect back on that time, I realize how inefficient my workouts were. I would spend at least 1 hour not really knowing what I was doing (i.e. how to lift weights, how much cardio). I would end up doing things I knew and never really made progress. I think I rested more than I exercised some times. Bottomline, I didn't get much out it and quickly lost motivation. At 9 Round, my experience is completely different. I work out for 30 minutes and that is the most efficient 30 minutes of my day. The trainers are awesome, they keep me motivated and most importantly doing the exercises in the correct manner. I get a *complete* body work out in 30 minutes. I don't realize where the time goes. It's easy to get in and out. I can pretty go much go whenever I want. I have been working out at 9 round for 9 months and it is still just as fun and challenging as the first work out. All of the trainers are kind, patient, encouraging, and supportive. It is a different work out every time so that your body does not get used to the same workout and it is never boring! The trainers are constantly checking with you to make sure you are doing everything correctly and will modify the workout for you if needed. It is really great that it is so flexible with no workout times so that you can go when it is convenient for your schedule and immediately jump right in to your workout!
Fooled myself by thinking that walking 4 miles/day was keeping me in shape. Realized that I also needed a full-body workout, but didn't want to join a gym, hire a personal trainer, or invest in home exercise equipment. 9Round sounded like just what I needed: 9 stations for 3 minutes each that work every part of your body, many using boxing and/or kickboxing moves. No class times so you can go whenever you want. Not waiting, as stations change every 3 minutes. Franchise owner "Dan the Man" is a great motivator. He pushes you, but within the limits of your electronic monitor readings for maximum effectiveness, and he's always positive and enthusiastic (despite being a Cleveland Browns fan). I originally only signed up for 30 days -- plus the free 30-day promotion -- but having completed that trial period, I re-upped for a full year.
Honest review from a newbie to exercise! About me: 35 years old, 2 kids, part time job, spend most of my time in the car driving from schools/activities/you name it (no time for me), 15 to 20 pounds from my goal weight (darn kids, chocolate and metabolism changes!) and finally... a NEWBIE to true exercise (my younger self didn't need it). What I realized: I can't change my responsibilities and time restraints, but I sure can start thinking about ME for once. I realized joining a typical gym would not work for me because I know I wouldn't go or would half ass it. Why wouldn't I? No one is there to hold me accountable so why not just take a stroll on the treadmill and call it a day. Besides, all that equipment is just crazy scary and asking a buff person for help is intimidating to someone like myself. Not to mention feeling like all eyes are on you.. no thank you! Why in the world would I join 9 round: for a newbie, the intimidation was still there but I realized it was just in my head. Everyone is so concentrated on their round that they don't have time to watch anyone else (Not like those darn tredmills). I have a trainer every step of the way really showing me how to exercise correctly, encouraging me and keeping me motivated. My Zone heart monitor you wear keeps me motivated because I want to be in a certain color to burn the most calories... plus, it will alert my trainer if I'm about to die! Bonus! What has 9 round done for me: well, the first day I went I seriously couldn't walk for 4 days!... I went back through! Makes me sweat like a pig and breath like I smoked for 30 years, but if you keep going it will get better.... not the sweat part! I have been with 9 round for 2 months now and due to my crazy schedule I can normally only go 2 times a week, 3 is a bonus. In those tough 2 months I'm breathing better (can actually climb a flight of stairs without needing to catch my breath!) And... LOST 10 pounds!!! I tell my mommy friends that 9 round is my new labor story... you feel great before you go, then feel scared thinking about it and don't want to go in. once you're in its an intense 30 mins, but when you're done... you're done! You limp out but feel amazing! Plus, there is another meaning for burp(ie)! So, if I can squeeze in 30 mins out of my day to do something for me- like lose 10 pounds in 2 months and breath better- so can YOU!
I have been a 9 round member for 2 months and am loving it. I was looking for a boot camp type of workout that did not break the bank and had convenient class times. My mother in law came to me and wanted to try 9 Round. I was hesitant on punching and kicking bags but am so glad that I tried it. A 30 min total body workout with NO class times! All of the trainers are awesome , energetic, and really care about you. I am liking the results I am seeing and feel I have never been in better shape. My husband and I are now addicted to 9 round.

Matt HolbrookMatt played all sports as a child but fell in love with football and participated in football all through high school. He began Boxing in 2005 and discovered his passion. He began his amateur career in 2007 competing all along the eastern coast from Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, D.C., to Philly. He has taught boxing for 3 years with adults and kids. His passion for fitness and helping other reach their goals has led him to 9Round where he believes it is the ultimate 30 minute fitness program.
Michael TerrellFitness and martial arts has always been an important part of Michael’s life. Starting from an early age, Michael participated in a martial arts tumbling team, gymnastics, wrestling and practicing martial arts (MMA). Over the past 3 years, he has enjoyed being a Group Fitness Instructor teaching different formats such as Kickboxing and Zumba. Michael obtained his certification through AFAA for Primary Group Exercise, CPR/AED First Aid certified and ZUMBA licensed. Michael is a former 82nd Airborne Army Officer.
