What is 9Round?

9Round is a specialized fitness center for people who want an unique, fun, and proven workout that guarantees results. 9Round offers a kickboxing themed fitness program that incorporates a functional, interval, cardiovascular, and circuit training regimens. The programs consist of a proprietary system of nine challenging workout stations developed by a World Champion Kickboxer.

Strength: Stations 1-2

You'll use dumb bells, kettle bells, medicine balls, jump ropes and other equipment to build strength and stamina. Our trainers help you at every station.

Kickbox Fitness: Stations 3-8

The real fun begins as you punch and kick heavy bags to build power, double end bags to increase coordination and timing, and speed bags to develop shoulder conditioning and speed.

Abs & Core: Station 9

You’ll tighten and strengthen all the muscles in one of the most common trouble spots, your core, which improves your ability to perform any movement you do for work, exercise, or leisure.

Here’s what you can expect:

  • You wear your 9ROUND PULSE belt during your workout.
  • As you work out, the device tracks how hard you’re working and displays your effort rating, your heart rate and calories burned on a monitor inside the 9Round club.
  • You can easily see if you’re in your optimal fat burning zone and adjust your effort up or down as needed.
  • View your results and progress any time from the app or your online account. Your results are also emailed to you after each workout.

    Adam Parks
    I am that crazy guy who always wants to be able to answer the question, “Have you done anything crazy lately?”, with a YES! I believe in taking advantage of all the world has to offer us and trying as many things as possible. Challenging myself, and always putting myself in situations outside my comfort zone; so that I always come out with more confidence and a better perspective of things than when I came in. There is nothing I would ever tell a member to do that I haven’t done myself, and that I have seen the benefits of first hand. 9round is the only gym I have been a member of in the last few years as a result, because I believe it represents the most efficient, fun, and effective experience out there in the fitness industry. My goal as a trainer is to create the most vibrant, energetic atmosphere possible; in order to help people truly feel alive and empowered by the human body and the human spirit. Just don’t be surprised if I take joy out of all the moans and groans sent my way during. You’ll thank me after!

    Suzanne "Neo" Lynch
    Neo is a trained dancer from Alexandria, VA with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Virginia Commonwealth University where she was also a member of the women's Track & Field team. As a professional dancer, she performed with Beyonce, Ciara, P. Diddy, Nelly, Bow Wow, Keri Hilson and has graced the stages of the MTV VMA’s, BET Awards, BET HipHop Awards, MTV's Sweet 16, MTV Japan, and Good Morning America. Neo has toured with Ciara, Mary J Blidge, Jay-Z, New Kids on the Block, Bow Wow & Chris Brown. As her dance career progressed, so did her love for fitness. Neo became a certified personal trainer in 2009 conducting bootcamps, individual sessions and leading conditioning classes at dance studios and universities. This helped Neo land the position of a Coach on MTV’s hit series “Made" and allowed her opportunities to be a specialty dance fitness trainer on music videos for R&B artists Ciara & Keri Hilson. Neo has fallen in love with the diverse workouts of 9Round Fitness, as they allow her to utilize all forms of techniques from her training in weight lifting, dance, calisthenics and plyometrics. Neo is expecting her first child this fall and loves how the 9Round Fitness workouts allow her to stay fit and healthy while being safe at the same time. She is becoming a pro at modifying the exercises to fit her changing body and fitness abilities while paying special attention to targeting the tough areas moms want to fix! Neo continues to teach dance and fitness classes and is thrilled to join the 9Round family!

    Connor Brittan
    I've been playing competitive soccer my whole life since the age of 5. From middle school to high school, I traveled to 5 different countries to play and represent Virginia's State team and the East Coast region of the United States. I then played college soccer for Christopher Newport University. After retiring from college soccer, I am now a current student at Virginia Commonwealth University and lift competitively, in which I plan to compete soon in a men's npc physique competition soon. I hope to bring my athletic and lifting experience to 9round to help members push themselves as well as enhance their form and technique.

    At the start of my fitness journey, I was 280lbs with a host of health problems. Through great nutrition and consistent exercise, I was able to drop 100lbs and my health is at an all-time high. My goal in life is to spread that feeling of self-accomplishment and self-worth when you walk into that door and knock down the self-perceived barriers of doubt in your mind. I am a NASM certified trainer, and have experience in kickboxing, Muay Thai, judo, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and wrestling.

    Lauren Moran
    I have been physically active my entire life and grew up participating in dance, track, cross country, and basketball. I have both a Bachelor and Master's degree in health and physical education and taught physical education for the past 13 years at the high school, middle school, and elementary level. As an adult, staying active has lead me to the path of running longer distances, participating in weight and functional movement programs, and playing sports whenever I can! I am excited to help you reach your fitness goals and make you sweat at 9Round!

    Phil Evans
    Phil is the owner of 9Round Richmond and a part-time trainer. He is a native Virginian who attended high school in Northern Virginia, and college and law school at the University of Virginia. Phil has been involved in the sports and entertainment business for nearly 20 years, and served as President of the NBA's Development League from 2002-2007. He has worked as a virtual general counsel and sports industry consultant for the past eight years, including a stint as President of SportsQuest, the company that developed the 12 multi-purpose fields in Midlothian now known as the River City Sports complex and as President of the Richmond Revolution, a former member of the Indoor Football League team, and "Franchise of the Year" during Phil's tenure. An avid sports and fitness buff, Phil was a 9Round member for a year and a half in Greenville, SC before deciding to buy and open a franchise in Midlothian in June 2013. He has been married for nearly 30 years to Tammy Thompson Evans, his college sweetheart, and has 4 boys.
