  • I'm always happier when I leave than when I walk in the door. It's amazing how a half hour in the morning with the 9Round crew can set my whole day. Every single trainer is professional, effective, helpful and pushes me to succeed. As a newbie, I have never felt rushed or pressured or sub-par in any way. Then i checked out 9Round and did my free 1st workout and Bamm! i was hooked and signed up that day. Now this was not just about the workout and the 9 rounds in 30 mins thing, it is the whole package you get there. Kat "Powder Keg" McGinnis is so pumped up from the moment you arrive till the end of the workout that you feel the Pumped Upness! its a word! she and her staff , Vanessa and Sonja, all really make you/me want to come back and out do what we did the day before. it is a positive environment to challenge yourself in ways you did not thing possible.   • Sometimes I hold-off writing reviews because I want to sound unique, different, authentic and powerful. When I write a review, it's because I believe wholeheartedly the business is good for me and good for my community, which is exactly why I'm writing this review now, because I believe 9round is exactly those things. I've been a member since the summer of 2014. Embarrassingly, I think I've belonged to every gym in town including the various bootcamp programs available. In all honesty though, it's been at least five years since I've belonged to a gym, and the last gym I belonged to was Oakway Fitness. I have nothing against Oakway; it's a great place, but not good for me. I've popped in and out of a handful of bootcamps over the years too but never really sticking to any of them. I recognize 9round is not a perfect fit for everyone, but here is why it is the best fit for me: 1. I can get in and out in about 30-ish minutes. What? I know..amazing! 2. In 30 minutes, I get my cardio, anaerobic, and resistance training. Yes, punching bags, creates resistance, not to mention, dumbbells, medicine balls, kettle bells and more. I have an active family and a busy work life, so spending hours at the gym IS NOT realistic for me. 3. A certified trainer is coaching me through the experience and holding me accountable. 4. 9round is a circuit, so there is no down-time. In the past, if left up to my own devices, I would work out for 10 or so minutes, then I would walk around a bit, maybe do another five minutes of exercise, and then go home (no accountability). Sometimes I would walk in and walk right back out. 5. And best of all, it goes fast, and it's fun! I CAN NOT believe how fast the time goes. This is the one time 30 minutes feels like 15. Not once has the time ever felt like it was dragging on. I want this business to THRIVE!

  • Love this place!! The workouts are challenging and addictive!! Kat is a great motivator!! I love there is no class time, just show up and workout. Great atmosphere no matter what your fitness level.

  • Being somewhat bitter towards scales or numbers in general, success for me is measured in small things. Clothes fitting better, old clothes I had outgrown coming out of retirement. The way my arms look like arms again. The taper from defined calves to ankles. Looking for the blow-out in a pair of pants I haven’t worn for weeks before realizing they were fine . . . it was my butt that had firmed up and gotten smaller resulting in the extra room. My lower back, which used to ache chronically, making full contact with the mats without a peep of protest. Whether you are looking for a target weight, to reconnect with the ability and joy in moving your body without pain or restraint, or just to have an outlet for stress and return to your home calmer and feeling good about something, 9 Round and Kat will help you get there.

    Kathryn McGinnis is the proud owner of 9Round 30 Minute Kickbox Fitness. She loves being active in her community and has been a member of the Chamber of Commerce for over 10 years. In addition to her husband of over 13 years, she also has 2 teenagers and 2 dogs. When she's not working, she loves working out, helping others, cooking, laughing, the ocean, adventure, challenges, learning, growing and networking with friends and colleagues. Staying fit and healthy gives her the confidence and ability to do all the things in life she loves. After working out 3-5 times a week for over 10 years, her passion for fitness has brought her to fall in love with 9Round and a decision to open her own was made (opened 5/29/14). By the grace of God and with the support of her family, friends and colleagues, she is thrilled to get Springfield fit, 9 Rounds at a time!

    I am originally from South Georgia, but moved to Oregon in 2004. I was very active in sports from a young age through college, with a passion for staying active and spending time with friends and teammates. More than a decade later, I am a busy Momma of six children with age groups ranging from toddler to middle school and I am determined to say fit and active during the busy-ness of life! I have enjoyed kickboxing through the years, but the 9Round Kickbox Fitness circuit has far exceeded any workout I had previously done.
