9Round Owner Transforms Her Career by Following Her Passion
Leaving a stable career to start a business isn’t easy, but it’s something that Mindy Spacco knew she wanted to do. After working in education for more than 15 years, she took a huge leap into entrepreneurship by taking over her local 9Round studio in Avon, IN, in April of 2024.
Mindy says she was always intrigued by the idea of owning a business, and when the opportunity to take over her local studio presented itself, her passion for fitness and her entrepreneurial spirit came together perfectly.
Remarkably, Mindy decided to become a member at her studio before she even completed her first workout. Before becoming the owner, she had been a 9Round member for 6 years.
Because of this, she understood firsthand the impact that this fitness community could have, and she wanted to help others change their lives the way 9Round had changed hers.
Taking over the business meant that suddenly, Mindy was responsible for everything from marketing and sales to member retention and staffing. She didn’t know everything from the start, but she’s learning as she goes and leaning into her resources, like the incredible support from other 9Round owners across the nation and from the 9Round Home Office.
She was even able to join the Franchise Advisory Council during her first year of owning the business, where she gets to represent her fellow owners’ voices, collaborating with 9Round’s leadership team to help guide decisions that affect the entire brand.
Mindy acknowledges that running a business comes with many long days, late nights, and constantly thinking about her studio, even at home. But her husband Paul has been an incredible pillar of support—always there to bounce ideas off or simply listen when she needs to vent.
Since taking over the studio, Mindy is proud of the confidence she’s gained as a business owner. She’s worked tirelessly to strengthen her skills in leadership, communication, and relationship-building. Every day, she continues to push past her comfort zone, evolving both personally and professionally to grow her business.
For anyone exploring fitness, Mindy says, “Work out because you love your body, not because you hate it.” Fitness is a powerful form of self-care and each session is a chance to recharge, relieve stress, and celebrate your strength inside and out.
