About the team
Owner/Operator Maureen "Mighty Mo" Twohey has been a trainer for over twenty years. She is certified through NSCA (National Strength and Conditioning ...Association) and has taught individual and group sessions. Maureen has enjoyed Martial arts, Pilates, TRX, weight training, and Yoga. She found her calling in August of 2017 when she tried 9Round. It was the first time she felt regularly challenged without feeling that the workouts would become stale. She found the energy and constant motivation at 9Round addicting. She has two children, a fifteen year old son and thirteen year old daughter. Her daughter is one of her biggest fans and has spent endless hours helping flyer houses and get the word out about 9Round. The Roundkick is Maureen's favorite move and her goal is to have everyone smiling (or grimacing if needed) while experiencing a killer workout every time they visit. More
Shelby "HuffNPuff" Hoffman began martial arts and boxing when she was in college. Even when finances prevented her from pursuing the boxing bug, she w...ould find an open bag to work, and observe other boxers. Shelby met a trainer while working out who introduced her to 9Round. She was hooked! She began researching boxers on the internet to learn how to improve her form. Shelby is in her element while running pad drills and helping pushing others to be their best. She'll be going back to Harper College to pursue Personal Training. Shelby admires strong, confident athletes such as Kourtney Olsen. One of her strong beliefs is that all of us, especially girls, need to feel comfortable in their own skin. More
Jill "Southpaw" Podlin is a mother of three beautiful girls, Mckenzie (15), Morgan (13), and Melanie (7). As a certified personal trainer through, AS...FA (American Sport and Fitness Association), she has motivated clients in both individual and group settings. She left a career as a daycare teacher and Director to follow her fitness passion. Before becoming a 9Round Trainer, Jill was a member for almost 5 years. She fell in love with high intensity interval training and the idea of a full body workout in 30 minutes.Jill believes that nothing compares to a killer workout while having fun. When not training, Jill is either driving her children to and from dance and theater or taking a jog with her little one. Her family is a huge fan of Disney and her favorite quote is, "If you can dream it, you can do it"-Walt Disney. She is looking forward to having many successful years at 9Round and training others to enjoy it as much as she does. More
Matt "Terminator" Gonzalez began his fitness journey at the age of 30 and lost over 100lbs in the process. He then discovered his greatest passion whe...n he began training in boxing and Muay Thai kickboxing. He became a 9Round trainer in 2020 and found that it is the perfect outlet for sharing his knowledge and enthusiasm for martial arts and fitness with others. He believes that with hard work and consistency, everyone can improve their lives and achieve their fitness goals. His favorite exercise is anything that involves kettlebells and of course, burpees! Christina “TNT” Hudson one of our newest trainers at 9Round! She always had an interest in kickboxing but it wasn’t until she drove by her local 9Roun...d studio that she decided to check it out. Since then, Christina’s been a member for the last four years and has fallen in love the the workout. She loves the convenience and intensity of it all and that every round can be amped up to take you to the next level. During the pandemic, when the studios temporarily closed, Christina did the workout each day in her kitchen and is thrilled to be back in the studio kicking it with the other 9Rounders! When she is not at 9Round, Christina loves playing volleyball, feasting on sushi, and can be found frequenting the local Kilwins ice cream shop. More
Jesse "Warrior" Leon began his 9Round journey two years ago while a Sophomore at Wheeling High School. When he first stepped onto our 9Round floor, he... was hooked. Getting a full body workout in 30 minutes and learning kickboxing at the same time changed his life. He also increased his knowledge at another boxing gym to learn more about hand to hand combat, bringing back his new skills to 9Round. Starting as a member then becoming a trainer, helped Jesse truly relate to our newer 9Round members. He couldn't be more excited to share his experiences with our 9Round family. After high school he's hoping to pursue the art of film-making. More

I like the way the Buffalo Grove 9Round is run. They are most accommodating during a very difficult time. Everything was done very efficient. The staff at the Wheeling location are the #1 reason why I keep going back! They are accommodating and extremely supportive....and most importantly, non judgmental! I love the quick movement through workouts and the full body experience I get every time I go into the gym. The trainers are always helpful and push me when I need it and keeping me focused on form. ... Having new rounds (traditionally) start every 3 minutes allowing me to work the gym into my schedule is huge for me as well - I haven't found a gym that does that as effectively.
